Trusting in the Lord: Pastor Roy Spitzer

Updated: Apr 11

Who is God?

God is our Father, Jesus is the Son, and the Holy Spirit is our helper. He is the one we worship, serve, and praise. Sometimes we have to pause and ask ourselves: “Is this the God I truly trust?”

He is the one who can do the impossible, and we can rest in knowing He is in control.

"Jesus replied, 'What is impossible with man is possible with God.'"
Luke 18:27

Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

We often rely on our own logic, fears, or past experiences instead of trusting God. But our understanding is limited, blurred by fear, opinions, and pride. God calls us to trust Him even when we don’t see the full picture. His understanding is eternal—ours is temporary.

"There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death."
Proverbs 16:25

God is in Control

Even when we don’t understand what’s happening, God is either allowing or causing things to happen to accomplish His will. Whether we are coming in or going out, He watches over us. We might not always feel in control, but He never loses sight of us.

"The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore."
Psalm 121:8

The Challenge: Acknowledging God in All Things

To acknowledge God means to recognize Him in every detail —our words, plans, and actions. This is not just about knowing about God but truly knowing Him and living in Him. He wants to be involved in every area, not just the spiritual parts.

"In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:6

Trusting the Lord with Intention

Trusting God is not passive—it’s an intentional relationship built on time, prayer, and knowing His Word. Just like a tree planted by streams of water, we grow stronger when we remain rooted in Him. Trust doesn’t just grow in good times; it is strengthened through trials.

"But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."
Jeremiah 17:7–8
