The Unexpected Heroes
In a world full of contrasts, opinions and appearances often cloud our judgments. In the Bible, the story of Samuel anointing David as king reminds us that God values qualities unseen by the human eye.
Today, we honour the often-overlooked heroes of faith—women whose quiet strength and
dedication embodies true spiritual valour.
"But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.'"
- 1 Samuel 16:7
Women of Faith and Their Acts
Various women in the Bible exemplify extraordinary faith and action. From Hannah's sacrifice and Esther's risk to the persistent faith of the woman with the issue of blood, these stories illuminate the power of women's roles in biblical narratives and in our lives today.
Hannah's Prayer: 1 Samuel 1:10-11
Esther's Risk: Esther 4:16-17
The woman with the blood issue: Luke 8:43-47
Celebrating Modern-Day Women of Faith
Just as Mary and other women in the scriptures played pivotal roles in the biblical narrative
through their joy, intercession, and endurance, women today continue to shape our communities and churches through similar acts of faith, love, and resilience.
Mary's Joy and Prophecy: Luke 1:41-47
The act of giving by the woman who anointed Jesus: Mark 14:3-5
Endurance witnessed at the cross: John 19:25-27
These women discussed in Scripture were warriors, dancers, worshippers, queens, prostitutes, judges and disciples. They were incredible examples of what a life of faith and commitment should look like.
May your faith be fearless, may your intercession be without ceasing, may your giving be in abundance, may your joy in the Lord be enduring and may your reward be eternal!
