Love in Action ministry leader, Aimee Jantjies, has an unbridled passion for the community and especially for those less fortunate.
It is from the strands of her own life story that Aimee has been able to weave a tapestry that highlights the needs of others in creative ways.
One part of the Love in Action tapestry is the Red Door Project, which aims to provide an easy and accessible way to donate non-perishable items to the less fortunate.
The Red Door Project is basically a school cupboard that has now been transformed into a useful donation station.
According to Aimee, she heard of this need when speaking to Saints teachers who highlighted the fact that some children struggle to bring the basic necessities to school camps and events. This includes items such as personal hygiene items, food and so forth.
These stories struck a chord with this ministry leader, who herself had experienced tough times growing up.
“I know how they feel to not have everything that they need. There was a time in my life when I also struggled.
It can be really shameful and embarrassing. So that understanding has helped me to fuel the passion I have for those in need,” states Aimee with positive intent.
Another awesome aspect of the Red Door Project is the fact that all three entities (Christian Fellowship Church, Saints Christian School and Little Saints) can donate to the project.
“We have different time slots on the cupboard where the community can donate. There is also a specific list of items on the cupboard that can be donated,” adds Aimee.
Why red?
“Red resembles love and we want to show love through this project.”
The Community can pop in between 07:00-08:00 and 13:00-14:00 at Christian Fellowship Church (12 Wolmarans Street) to donate.
