GenZ2A

The aim of the GenZ2A Ministry is to connect an older person Z to a younger A person.
The age difference must at least be 6 years between the Z and A members.

Roles:

(Z) - This person is expected to provide guidance, advice, feedback and support to (A). This is achieved through a relationship of mutual trust and understanding.

(A) - This person is expected to be willing to receive advice and guidance. It is also important to be honest and truthful when sharing information.

Vision

Connecting the body of Christ; one to one, in order to create meaningful, supporting networks between different generations.

Mission

Wisdom is gathered through experience. Experience and wisdom that are shared, create cycles of growth and maturity that will benefit individuals, the family of Christ and also the broader community.

How does the process work?

  • Each member will give certain info to the ministry head: age; gender; occupation; preferred method of communication etc.

  • After prayer and planning, individuals will be paired.

  • It is very important to know that this will be a relationship of trust and anything shared will be handled with confidence.

  • If a matter arises that needs more serious attention and the older member does not feel equip to handle it, it will be referred to the ministry head for consultation. But this must be will the agreement of the younger member.

What is expected for the Z member?

  • To initiate the first contact after receiving information of the A member.

  • To give weekly encouragement through Word and prayer.

  • To have an open ear and heart, if member A needs guidance in a specific matter.

  • To be willing to mentor if needed.

  • To be available to create trust, relationship and love.

  •  To be non-judgmental and handle all matters with confidentiality.

  • To always take in mind: How would Jesus respond?

  • Keep the values of Truth; Unity and Excellence in mind with every interaction.

What not to expect from the Z member:

  • This is not an opportunity to ask for money or transport – except if it is a crisis and you feel led to help.

  • This person will not be a professional councilor or therapist.

  • This person is not perfect – in a relationship of trust; forgiveness must follow if mistakes are made.

We are looking forward to fostering relationships that will create growth to benefit individuals, the family of Christ as well as the broader community!
